Pat Pend UPM

The distinctive circular UPM monogram, rendered as an interlocking geometric design. The mark appears to represent UPM, and has tentatively been associated with United Paper Mills Ltd., a long-established Ontario paper company with operations in Toronto, Hamilton and London. The company's presence in Ontario is independently documented in Canadian government industrial records.


The exact period corporate artwork, however, has not yet been conclusively located in a surviving 1940s / 1950s trademark or advertisement, so the safest historical description is “UPM monogram” rather than definitively stating that it was the official United Paper Mills logo.
